El director Sergei Loznitsa acaba d’estrenar, al Festival Internacional de Cinema de Venècia, el seu últim documental: Austerlitz, lliurement inspirat en el llibre homònim de W. G. Sebald. El film és un retrat de les persones que visiten els antics camps de concentració nazis i una reflexió sobre el fenomen que es produeix quan uns indrets de mort i destrucció són transformats en destinacions turístiques.

Filmada en blanc i negre, la pel·lícula mostra els rius de persones que aflueixen als camps de concentració de Dachau, al nord de Munic, i de Sachsenhausen, als afores de Berlín, i posa de manifest, de vegades d’una manera sarcàstica, la relació que s’estableix entre la cultura contemporània i el substrat sobre el qual s’assenten aquests llocs de peregrinació (o pelegrinació) moderns.

Austerlitz també s’ha pogut veure al Festival Internacional de Cinema de Toronto, en el marc del qual Andréa Picard descriu així el documental de Loznitsa:
